Causes of Gastric Ulcers

A stomach ulcer is an erosion of the stomach, upper small intestine or esophagus. Gastric ulcers are produced by burning a lot of stomach acid. Symptoms may include abdominal pain, heartburn, indigestion, nausea, vomiting, fatigue and weight loss. Symptoms may include vomiting, bloody stools, and Pitch Black. The ulcer can be diagnosed by a blood test or endoscopy. There are several factors that can contribute to an ulcer.
Helicobacter pylori H. pylori is a bacterium that causes intestinal infection and possibly an ulcer. While the bacteria are still present and are often not a problem, can irritate the stomach lining.
     
Analgesics Constant use of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs like aspirin, Motrin and Advil may cause stomach inflammation that develops into an ulcer.
SmokeTobacco contains nicotine, which increases the acidity of the stomach and cause ulcers. Smoking can affect healing of an ulcer.
Alcohol Excessive consumption of alcohol can stomach acid and can irritate the stomach lining. If the ulcer is already present, alcohol can worsen.
Tension Stress contributes to the development of stomach ulcers and may also slow the healing process.
